Yard sale dress "dressed" up

MY SWEET LITTLE SISTER GOT THIS ADORABLE COUNTRY DRESS FOR ME AT A YARD SALE.

I TOOK OFF THE BUTTON AND HAD FUN TATTING SOME LACE FOR IT

THEN HAD MORE FUN TATTING SOME LACE TO PUT ON THE SLEAVES AND AROUND THE WASTE.

SEWED THE BUTTON BACK ON AND DONE!

SHE GREW OUT OF IT IN POINT 5 SECONDS LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE. SO NOW IT WILL COLLECT DUST BECAUSE IT TOOK A LOT OF WORK AND I DONT WANT TO GET RID OF IT EVER. MAYBE SHE WILL WANT IT FOR HER DAUGHTER.

This and Tat

Tatting is an OLD form of Lace making. It is truelly a lost art. I can sort of see why LOL. Mainly for me, it is because it is essentially forming tiny knots into the shapes. Unlike crocheting, when you mess up you will be picking out knots and it really is NOT fun! When I crochet after I have been tatting recently, I love to just unravel it and remember why it is so much easier!

I am obviously way novice to tatting. But here was my first doily.

Then this one for my mommy in law for christmas. This took me about 32 hours....yup novice. It is pictured here blocked. you have to pin it in place and spray layers of starch on it to help it hold its shape.

I liked that one and I wanted one for my piano, but that 32 number kept me away. finally a year later I bit the bullet. This time however I was only at 15 so just half the time! I never blocked this one, so it isn't quite as nice looking as the one turned out for my mommy-in-law. but it will do.

Here I tatted some lace and hand stitched it onto some temple shoes for my own mommy for christmas

I also made her a temple accessory bag which I forgot to take pictures of but I shall soon.
